After recent visits to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia and Indonesia, FXTM’s Chief Market Analyst Jameel Ahmad continued his media tour into China where he visited both Beijing and Shanghai.  Following a wide range of interviews with highly respected publications in Beijing, FXTM’s Chief Market Analyst travelled on to Shanghai for additional interviews with Reuters, the 21^st Century Business Herald and Bloomberg. Jameel also hosted another lively media roundtable event in Shanghai, which elicited many questions from those in attendance and sparked an interesting discussion on the future outlook for the currency markets.

As expected, Jameel’s latest visit to China generated intense media interest that resulted in widespread coverage across well-known print, online and broadcast media channels, with features appearing in the likes of Reuters, the 21^st Century Business Herald, International Business Day and China Security News.  A particular highlight of the trip was Jameel’s video interview with FX168.com. 

Topics discussed included:

• Why Jameel thought the USD would be vulnerable to profit-taking in the second quarter of 2015;
• When the Federal Reserve will begin raising US interest rates;
• The Chinese economy and the outlook for the future;
• The People’s Bank of China (PBoC) and its attempts to reinvigorate economic momentum;
• RMB internationalization and adding the currency into the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket; and,
• The future outlook for the currency markets.

FXTM’s Chief Market Analyst, Jameel Ahmad recently extended his media tour into Indonesia where he hosted another successful media roundtable event in Jakarta. The FXTM event was attended by more than 22 leading media outlets, including The Jakarta Post and Bloomberg Business Week. Following the media roundtable and after being interviewed by Bloomberg Business Week, Jameel was invited to MNC Business TV where he appeared as the only guest expert on the weekly E-Buzz show.

E-Buzz is a specialist business talk show that airs live in both Indonesia and Singapore every Thursday evening and our Chief Market Analyst shared his thoughts on a wide range of subjects, including the Indonesian economy and the global currency markets. 

The topics discussed during Jameel’s visit to Indonesia included:

• The decline in the price of oil and whether the commodity could rebound later in 2015
• What type of impact weaker oil prices could have on the Indonesian economy
• How the Indonesian economy could be impacted by the weaker Rupiah
• The outlook for the Rupiah over the remainder of 2015
• How political uncertainty can impact the currency markets
• The Federal Reserve and when it may begin raising US interest rates
• Why Jameel thought the USD was vulnerable to profit-taking

The winners had some interesting things to say about the contest and their strategies.

One of the winners said that his strategy was based on trading during news announcements and other socio-economic events where the markets are most volatile.  Other winners traded only specific currency pairs like the AUD/JPY or used simple technical indicators on the chart like the Moving Average and RSI to determine their entry points. Aggressive day-trading strategies were the most popular strategies as traders relied on opening and closing positions in quick succession in order to make a number of profits in a short amount of time.

The winners also stated that they would love to participate in the next FXTM trading contest where they can battle for a $100,000 prize pool!
